[cisco-voip] Overlapping Dial Plan + 4 digit dialing + Presence

Hello all,

I have a puzzle.

I am in the process of developing a rollout plan for Presence 7.0 with CUPC. We have CUCM 6.1.

I have discovered that many features require a "Directory Lookup Rule" so that an incoming DN is matched with an AD account. Most notably, the "Start Web Conference" escalation button for an in-progress call. It doesn't work unless the person you're talking to can be matched in LDAP via their phone number.

We have an overlapping dial plan (yuck). For consistency, our Active Directory has 10 digit numbers in the telephoneNumber field and "91+<10digits>" in the ipPhone field for universal dialing via the "corporate directory" button on the phones.

We require users to a 9 to dial other locations because of the overlapping DNs but all calls are on-net. I can't write Directory Lookup rules for the calls because they would overlap too (Site A 4XXX -> 212-555-4XXX overlaps with Site B 4XXX -> 919-555-4XXX)

My only idea would be to eliminate the need for the directory lookup rules by presenting all calling parties as 10 digits all the time. The only way I can think to do this for intra-site calls is to remove the Site_Internal_partition (the one with all the DN's) from the site's calling search space and put in a translation pattern to get there instead... but that seems a little messy.

What I'd like is *all* calls to Use External Phone number mask for 4 digit-dial calls in the same partition..... without a route pattern. Is this possible somehow?

Clear as mud? Any help is appreciated...

Scott
