It depends on what kind of PIMG you're going to use. There is the
analog PIMG, that's basically a box with 8 fxo ports. Other than
configuring the PIMG and Unity, it is pretty much a drop in
replacement from the PBX's perspective. There is also a digital PIMG
that emulates a digital PBX set (different models for different PBXs,
of course). If you're using that, then you'd need to configure the PBX
for 8 digital sets (per pimg) and patch the connections into an SLMO
line card.
For new installs, the digital boxes are usually easier to get up and
running and a bit more feature rich, but if you've got an existing
analog config and are looking for the least amount of fuss, the analog
will likely be easiest.
