It needs to be the URL of your custom directory.   If you aren't  
familiar with using or creating a custom ldap directory search page  
search the archives of this list.

At some point we added the ability to specify the URLs (external data  
locations) at the device page.  I don't recall if it's in 4.1 or not  
but it's definitely in 4.2.
