[cisco-voip] DTMF Tone problem?

You should probably consider getting off of 6.1.1. 7.1.2 was just
released and 6.1.3 has been out for a while now. Both would have newer
firmwares.
You can also get newer firmwares per device type. So instead of browsing
the downloads and looking for device packs for CUCM; browse for phones
and find the model you have and select whichever version floats your
boat.

I loaded the latest device pack 6.1.1.3117 which included this firmware.
Nothing newer available.

There are two prominent duplicate DTMF bugs:

Your phone creates in band and out of band DTMF due to some sidetone
problems. This is on phones running 8.4.1 and 8.4.1 SR1 on third
generation phones (79x1,79x2, etc). This is when you're dialing out
of an IP system and getting problems.
You can recreate this by doing this: use the handset, dial the number
out, connect, and then press the DTMF digits for a lot longer than you
would normally. You'll get duplicate DTMF.
CSCso87127
This is the gateway not stripping all of the in-band DTMF out of the
stream and creating an out of band DTMF. The remaining DTMF is still
in the line and causes duplicate DTMF. This is when calls are coming
in via analog and going towards IP with a out of band DTMF method.
This is in 12.4(15)T before 12.4(15)T8, as well as some of the latest
mainline images.
If you have MISSING digits, you're probably not hitting one of these
two. I like to call the tac hotline (1 800 553 2447) and press option
2. Then use 1234567890# and let the IVR repeat the digits back.

Might also want to stay away from DSPWare 4.4.21 and 4.4.29.
Duplicate DTMF events are produced when encountering defect ID
CSCso87127,
which I've seen mainly when using the DSPWares mentioned above.
Just a heads up... But this may not apply to you depending on
the call flow
and equipment you're running.

Other way around.
the bug when using the hand set would send dual touch tones. by
using the
speaker phone is worked around the issue.
but John is correct. I think it was right around the 8.3 and
8.4 firmware
and if I remember correctly it was 79x1 and better. (like all
the java
phones)
Just my two cents.

We had similar problem, was due to firmware on phones. We had
7945/65/75
running (I think) version 8.4.3 or 1 earlier.
Upgrade phones to newer firmware, problem fixed.
When users used the speaker phone to press keys for automated
system, it
would not work or generated wrong DTMF tones.
If they used the handset, it worked fine.
May not be the same problem your experiencing but HTH.

I have had a few problem calls today regarding callers not being
able to
choose options from menus when they are calling out. The tones
are not
being recognized. The problems are intermittent. Anyone
familiar with this
problem?
Thank you,
Lisa
