[cisco-voip] Phones Ring but no voice? CME- to other Router

Hi Tim,

I did not get a chance to look at it last night, one thing I found in
some tech guides is that you have to have

ip route

Now both my routers are on the same subnet so I am not sure that is
applicable but I will check.

I am going to flatten and rebuild both routers tonight and strip out
anything that's defiantly not needed at this stage ( like the adsl
config ) and go from there.

If there is no success I will post up the to configs.

Cheers

Rob..

P.S. My brother in law is Tim Smith too......

Hi Robin,
Do you have the H323 bound to a specific loopback or interface?
I wouldnt change to E&M just yet. Your FXO should work. I think you
have an underlying problem that will go across both POTS technologies.
I'd post your configs. Without these, we cant say whether it is
configured correctly and not working, or whether it is missing config
hence not working.
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Guys
I did some more testing last night,
I did the
debug voip cappi inout
there' was stuff logged on both routers but it did not make a whole
heap of sense to me ( Noob!!! )
I did some other testing,
I set up CME on the other router, so it's now one router with IP & FXO
and the other router with just IP.
As before I can call
IP <-> FXO on the same router works fine
IP <-> FXO on different routers ends up with no voice
IP <-> IP on different routers ends up with no voice
If I force the codecs to be wrong then I don't even get a ring on the
destination phone.
Furthermore, I checked the status of the calls "call stats" on the 7940
and it shows
RxType G711a
TxType G711a
on both phones.
But what is most interesting, is that
RxCnt ( Recived packet Count ) never moves of Zero
TxCnt ( Transmited packet Count ) increments as time passes during the
call.
So, packets are going but not getting where they are supposed to by the
looks of things, which is a little odd as they are on the same subnet.
And the SCCP packets must be going the right way as the phones ring.
I am going to try an E&M connection between the two routers tonight and
see if that works at all....
Cheers
Rob

I think, maby be two reason about this issue.
1-Ip connectivity problem. Be sure ping each other.
2-Codec problem, select same codec each one.

Hi Paul

I have so far only done

show call active voice

which confirmed that calls were being created and torn down.

I have tried a 2600 but that was really unstable and rebooted on
connection of the call!!!

I have downloaded some debugging documents from cisco that I will have
a scan through.

Cheers

Rob

What troubleshooting steps have you taken thus far?

Have you used 'debug voip ccapi inout'?

Test Lab Setup is.

1760 with CME4 and 2 7940's

Conected via ethernet to

2651 with 2 POTS on FXO's

Call from 7940 to 7940 work fine
Call from POTS to POTS work fine

Previously with FXO in the 1760, 7940 to POTS worked fine.

Now when I try to place a call between the CME router and the other
router or vice versa, the phones ring as expected but then there is no
voice between the phones.

Has anyone got any ideas as I am realy scratching my head on this now
and getting frustrated.

Thanks

Robin
