Last I heard Verizon was offering a 'beta' to customers interested in
using T38. As of a few months ago it wasn't something they supported.
You won't be able to fax in G.729. The equivalent is T38.
Modem passthrough is done via NSEs, and unless the Verizon equipment
is also set up for a Cisco proprietary method of doing faxes it won't
work.
What you're looking for is fax pass-through:
voice service voip
fax protocol pass-through g711ulaw
If you're doing SIP-H323 or SIP-SIP CUBE I would go to 20T or later.
You will want these commands (with the allow-connections as needed)
also:
H323-SIP:
voice service voip
h323
empty-capability
SIP-SIP
voice service voip
sip
midcall-signaling passthru
