While reviewing the release notes for 6.1(4a), I found the following under
Documentation Changes:
Software Feature License
When you upgrade from any supported release of Cisco Unified Communications
Manager to Release 6.1(3x), you must download and install a software feature
license to activate the new features. The *Cisco Unified Communication
Administration Guide* indicates that you must install a software feature
license only if you are upgrading from 5.x or 6.x releases. You also need a
license if you are upgrading from supported 4.x releases. For instructions
about how to obtain and install a software feature license, see the "License
File Upload" chapter in the *Cisco Unified Communications Manager
Administration Guide*.
The 6.1(1) CUCM admin guide says:
*Note *You do not need to obtain new licenses if you are upgrading within a
software release train, such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0(1)
to 6.1(1).
I am confused. My license report says that I have a valid 6.1 software
license installed.
Does the above mean that I have to add an additional feature license to go
from 6.1(2)SU1 to 6.1(4a)? If so, it isn't clear how I do this, since the
CUCM Admin Guide covers version 6.1(1). I don't have a new PAK as I'm using
the UCSInstall file rather than media obtained through the PUT tool.
Thanks for helping me clear this up.
