[cisco-voip] Monitoring DHCP utilization rates on UCM

Translation.... Don't use the CUCM built-in DHCP server. There are a million other ones out there including the embedded one in IOS.

<from my previous post>
The DHCP server is marginally functional and has no serviceability, see

CSCsc75796 DHCP Server that is part of CCM should provide additional information
There should be a way of finding out which IP address is allocated to which phone, how many addresses are currently allocated etc. General management statistis for the DHCP service. Can't see anything in the GUI or RTMT that addresses this.

CSCso60222 After DHCP Monitor service is stopped, IP is given to DHCP clients

It is not a very effective DHCP server.

Cisco recommends using the CUCUM DHCP server if you have no more than 1000 devices registering to it. if you have more than 1000 devices you must use an external DHCP server.

Cisco strongly discourages using UCM for DHCP.

The only reason it is there is because the windows side had it.

If you need DHCP you have a voice router somewhere in the environment that will give you far more options and flexibility.

While I was on the boot camp 1 month ago.
it was one of the questions when we started the bootcamp and Vik couldn't find the query or the command on the cli to see the bindings. i've been trying to find the command i went to every command on the cli and i couldn't find it

if you happen to find it, it would be a great feedback

That's the impression I got as well.

I'm just looking at the v7 interface now and there is two options for DHCP. Create/start/stop DHCP servers and Create/start/stop DHCP subnets.

There might be a way to use the CLI and "file view" commands to see the logs, etc. But that would hurt so much.

I'm 99% sure that I saw in this forum that using the built-in DHCP server
is strongly discouraged, with the above being one of the things that it lacks.
