Message retention is done with the message aging policy in Unity  
Connection http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/7x/administration/guide/7xcucsag190.html

For interdigit timeout change the Wait for Additional Digits timer on  
caller input.
