[cisco-voip] Unity Connection with Unified Messaging Q4 2010

I think Arc is pretty neat. Esp the feature where you can recall a transferred call. Afaik, this isn't possible with the CUCM.

at my last job. we had UCCx for support calls and Arc for Receptionist calls. Most people would never get a CH unless they got someones VM.

Do you frontend any Offices / Numbers with Unity Call handlers? If voicemail is down / unreachable, do your customer calls get answered? I realize that those types of calls should be in IPCCX, but alot of them end up just being simple voicemail menu's.

Wow, I would like to know where Voicemail is Mission Critical? In a day in age that there are so many other options or low cost VM solutions, it's amazing that companies would pay full price for both to get that kind of redundancy.

Watch as I say this, our company will want it ;-).

You basically buy two voicemail systems, CUE and UCONN, full

On the non-cost side it’s a pretty cool idea, with subscriber sync
and message forwarding to UCONN etc.

And it’s not a 8.5 feature. It’s a 8.0 deal.

Does it sync the subscriber messages?

Thanks,

Looks
like Survivable Remote Site Voicemail (SRSV), is a NME with a CUE module in it
at each site. Then is looks like you sync some certificates between the CUE and
UCONN. Based on the doc on Cisco it looks like it is CUE+ interconnect to
UCONN. Could be interesting, but curious on what the $$$’s in hardware and licensing.

Out of
insane curiosity, why no patching during install anymore?

The same single ISO
is used for CM, CUCMBE, and Unity Connection.

No plans to go
backward but it is intentional going forward. We are working on getting
it everywhere we can starting with 7.1.5bsu2, 8.0.3, and 8.5.1. When I get
updated confirmation I will share as much as possible in a support forums doc.

Note, you will still need to place orders in order to get PAK for
licensing. This should greatly reduce media issues though. It's been a
long time coming and the need to remove the 'patch during install' option
finally pushed it over the top.

I
believe I read in the CUCM RN that patching will no longer be allowed during

Don’t
suppose you guys want to go back and refresh all the other builds? :)

Not at all, and the
same goes for CUCM, though I don't believe it is documented anywhere.

The 8.0(3)
engineering specials will also be bootable (no more upgrade during install) and
will be advertised as such.
