Speaking of newer phones, does anyone have an 89xx or 99xx doing EHC with a Plantronics cs-55?

The physical lifters are a limitation of the Cisco IP phones, not the headsets. If you have newer phones (79x5) with electronic hookswitch control you don't need a mechanical lifter, it can be done electronically.

So these are all physical hookswitch solutions? You'd think in this day and age of technology....

Yeah, we can get a L50 lifter for the handsets for VXI, we were just trying to avoid the extra cost.

Would a softphone with a USB headset give me more flexibility? Or is that just asking for trouble...

We use Plantronics with the wireless hook switch control.

Thanks,

Yes, you need one of the newer X5 models that allows hook switch control. Then you just have to find an appropriate adapter from your headset vendor.

Hey all,

So we're looking for some nice wireless headsets that have functionality to pick up the call from the headset (via a button on the earpiece). Has anyone seen one of these work?

We tried some VXI headsets that they claimed would work if we had "auto-answer" as an option on the phone (which call manager does). But it just auto answers, they don't have a choice to ignore the call.

Anyone have anything else they've used that works?
