Didn't the new "feature" called strict version checking get added to the 7.1.x branch?

We reviewed this and found too many if/then/else branches. There are rules of thumb, but places where those get you in trouble.
The safest practice is to always restore to the same version. I believe restore is getting increasingly closer to locking it down to this level.

Wes - for my future reference, are you saying that there are database changes from revisions of the same versions such as 7.0.2(1xxxx) to a 7.0.2(2xxxx)? I always assumed there were changes like this going from 7.0.x to 7.1.x, etc., but the minor revisions too?

it is supposed to be blocked by the restore. even if it is allowed, it's not likely to work. new CM versions introduce or change parameters in the database. it is necessary to keep the database version and the application version in sync.

Hey folks,
I am 99% sure I am going to get told no..
But I thought I would ask this anyway..
We have a need to test some issues on a 7.0.2(10000-18) CUCM..
But the oldest CUCM media we have is a 7.0.2(20000-5)....
Can we install the newer and restore to it with a backup from 10000-18?
This is non-production only..
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jim
