[cisco-voip] Digital Fax solutions

That was a large part of moving to a fax server at our campus. We use HP MFPs and the XMedius fax software. Note that in our case we needed to move to the HP Digital Sending Software (which has its own benefits namely in centralizing management of the email/fax/address book/some other features), and it requires a minimum of the 3xxx series MFPs from HP (3035 for B&W, 3530 for Color). It has dramatically reduced our analog requirements, so far I believe about cut in half, with more reductions to come. It also nicely handles remote sites (since the analog signal only comes into the main campus), and it allows for fully digital reception of faxes (by email usually).

If you have any questions about our setup feel free to send me an email.

The one thing that surprised me about Cisco's solution (and probably
others) was that they provide integration options for several MFPs
(multi function printers). This means, that without an analog line and/
or fax card, the MFP can fax transparently to the user.

This revelation will definitely make bringing a fax server onto campus
a little easier.

Although the idea of an analog line feeding back to a VG224/SRST setup
has it's benefits. ;)
