That is the way we are running it today, but our security folks dislike
having to open the RTP port range to support it. The hope was to use ASA
in conjunction with a new VPN solution to lock it down.

It is only the phone proxy feature that isn't supported with CIPC.
Having the CIPC work on a PC running software vpn will work just fine.

So I was reading software compatibility stuff for CUCM 7 and came
across this for CIPC:

Under the interoperability section it states:
Cisco IP Communicator is not supported with Cisco® ASA 5500 Series
Adaptive Security Appliances with Phone Proxy for Remote Access.

Is this something new? I was hoping to use the ASA to rectify some
security concerns our Info Sec group had regarding using IP Communicator
across our VPN.
