If you try to do the upgrade via SFTP and it doesn't see the file, then yes you need to apply the patch. It should be in the cisco.com downloads for 5.1.

Do I understand correctly that I need to upgrade to a different version of 5.1.3 before I upgrade to 7.1.3b? I'm not going to a 7.0 verision. (per bug)

It's not a problem with the file you are upgrading to, but rather the version you are on not being able to see the file on the sftp server. The "fix" needs to be in the version you are upgrading *from*.

I should not run into the bug you quoted below because I'm going to a 7.1.3b rather then a 7.0, correct? I see fixes in 7.0 releases, so i'm ASS - U (&) ME ing it's fixed in 7.1.3b.

The big issue is that the 7.1(3b)su2 upgrade file on cisco.com is the UCSInstall_UCOS file that is only accepted by 6.x upgrades (this particular patch is also restricted to 6.1.3 and later). A 5.x to 7.x upgrade requires the UCM-Upgrade file which doesn't exist for 7.1(3)su2.
If you are upgrading to get a particular bug fix you can open a TAC SR to request the UCM-Upgrade file for the 7.1(3)ES, but keep in mind you still have to order the upgrade via PUT to get your sw feature license PAK (which you've already done). You may also need a separate patch depending on what version of 5.1(3) you are on (CSCsl21150).

That's during initial install. For an actual upgrade the same option doesn't exist.

I have not tried this specific path, but during the upgrade you are asked if you have a service pack that you would like to apply and can be prompted for the media, its not a slipstream per se, but same results.

Subject: [cisco-voip] CM upgrade path
So looking at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#w
p40074 I see that I can upgrade from 5.1.3 to 7.1.3b (which is the media I have). But can not upgrade directly to 7.1.(3b)su2.
so my question is do I have to upgrade to 7.1.3b then turn around and upgrade to su2 or can I slip stream it in the upgrade process? I'm assuming not. but I wanted to check with you all before I did it.
thanks
Scott
