[cisco-voip] Experience with TiM (Telephone Interface Communications Manager) ???

I've been using this software for a while now and I'm very happy with it. It
simplified my daily business in every way. Previously it took me ages to
integrate all the new devices into our environment. Now this can be done
within minutes!

Another big advantage ist the easy to use rights & roles system. I really
can recommend this tool to everyone who is tired of the CUCM's complex user
interface. Take a look at the video tutorials. I know there is not much on
the website (as stated by Mike before) but after thorough testing we decided
to buy TiM. We even let our employees self-administer their speed-dials, my
interns do password resets etc. I have only granted them the rights to do
only the "helpdesk" stuff. Hence they can't do much havoc. So now I can take
care of the more important issues and got rid of the time consuming tasks I
had been really fed up with.

Cheers, Peter

Yes, our lab runs a VM CUCM ... which we used for testing TiM

Thanks SJ. Pretty good explanation.

Do you know if I can test/demo this against a VM CUCM? As in: do I REALLY
need to supply MAC?

Mike,

TiM is an appliance. So everything is basically "pre-installed". Aspiria
offers two possibilities: either TiM is delivered as VMware image or
preinstalled on a dedicated server (HP or IBM). It has its own linux kernel.
Installation is as simple as it could be. Logon to the initial installation
assistant FRED (First Really Easy Deployment assistant, I know it sounds
funny but it really is easy) and sync TiM with your CallManager. Next step
is to configure templates, which is the only time during which you really
need somebody who knows the CallManager. After that everything is easy as
pie ...

Yeah, I know ... their website does not give away much. Thought it to be
awkward, too. However those Aspiria guys are really nice and helped us a
lot. TiM handles CUCM 6, 7 and the new 8.

Pricing: As far as I have understood they focus on developing software. So
they only directly sell to service providers and you need to buy it from
them. Regarding Europe you can get team from T-Systems, Dimension Data,
NextiraOne, Axians, Stemmer (a BT company) ... and any other IT consultancy.
We tested the demo and then went to our service provider and explicitly
requested TiM and the SP took care of it. The price is well below a CCVP
expert ....

@ Paul: yes, TiM is all pre-configured ... nothing left to do any configs on
my own.

So long,

SJ

SJ,

How's the pricing on this look? I may fire out a demo request as well.
What's the install like? Windows application? The only reservation I have
is there's not a whole lot of detail on the website. CUCM compatibility?

I was wondering if anybody else has already tested the provisioning software
TiM (Telephone Interface Communications Manager) ???

Have not heard from this software or company before, found them by accident
on Google. Ordered a demo, received it a couple of days later and started
testing. After a while of testing I was amazed of how they have simplified
managing the CUCM. Finally ordered TiM for our CallManager. To date TiM only
handles Cisco's CallManager. Unity Connection is supposed to follow this
year.

So far I am a happy and satisfied customer. Wondered if anybody else has
gained experience with TiM and would like to share it.

Cheers, SJ
