[cisco-voip] Phone login profiles and different phone versions

Hi,

 

We use a combination of 7940's, 7941's, and 7960's. I have found that
creating a 7940 profile works across all devices. Albeit with fewer
Lines available to the 7960.

 

Not really seen any other issues doing this.

The release notes for 7.1 should have a pretty big section dedicated to
this.  Basically everything should work, but for depending on the device
profile model and the phone model the phone may default to the default
phone button template.

 

Reboots should only happen when the phone switches locale, iirc.

What is the status of using a login profile on a different phone than
what the profile was created for?

 

So far what we've seen is

 

7941 profile - works on 7941 phone, reboots a 7945 phone then works

7965 profile - works on 7965 phone, also works on 7961

 

Can profiles work on different revision phones (796x phones) without
rebooting the phone?

Can profiles work across different line number phones (796x and 794x
phones)

 

If not, how do we allow this type of flexibility for people not to have
to take inventory of what phone they're logging into to get their
profile?
