To get to 8.5(2)SR1, you will need to stop off at 8.5(2). By default it takes the default load that Is set in ccm, which is most likely 8.5(2)SR1. You will need to either change the default load or set the load for the specific phone. Once it has 8.5(2) then you can go to 8.5(2)SR1. If you try to go to 8.5(2)SR1 or later from an old rev, you will get the auth fail message. This is a feature as it is documented in the release notes.

I have SCCPnn.8-5-2SR1 loaded

 and upload SCCPnn.8-5-2S

 and add a phone that has SCCPnn.8-3-3

to the CM will it upgrade the firmware to SCCPnn.8-5-2S or try to upgrade to SCCPnn.8-5-2SR1?
