[cisco-voip] VG224 running as SCCP vs MGCP

Why not run it in H.323. I have run several VG224's with H.323 with no
problems.

If you also run/are planning on running standards based T.38 in your
environment (such as an IP based fax server), you have to be running MGCP if
you want interoperability.

Instead of running all ports as SCCP, you can run both SCCP and MGCP and
assign voice ports to SCCP, and modem/fax ports to MGCP. The only downside
is that you have to track which port is which when configuring UCM (as UCM
will list all ports as if it were two different gateways).

If using analog phones on a VG224 and want to use hold, transfer, conf, mwi,
etc., I've usually setup the VG224 with SCCP instead of MGCP, but this
install will have faxes and modems on them and have heard of issues doing
this in the past. Anyone know if there are still issues with having faxes
and modems on a SCCP VG224?

Thanks,

Kevin
