there were genuine parts a while back still without holograms and i believe the way to tell if they were fake was that they _did_ have holograms on the boxes.
i remember reading an article where they showed 4 or so pairs of pictures, one genuine, one fake and asked you to tell the difference. i failed each one.
these fakes made their way into the supply chain of very reputable distributors and partners. it was huge.

I'm sure it was. No hologram. When I bought genuine T1 and E1 cards for my lab they have worked perfect.

I had happen this when I bought E1 or T1 VWIC cards on ebay. I learned my lesson. The cards die pretty quick and firmware gets corrupts causing Layer 2 issues.
