ok. got things working. looks like the downgrade added and removed a few statements on me. i did a line by line comparison, but obviously not close enough.

i'm gonna try v9 firmware for the hell of it and see what happens.

ok, i downgraded three phones to firmware 8.3.5 and they still can't register. :(

i'm assuming the latest 8.3 code is ok according to this document written by some guy named...wait, oh, Wes! ;)

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8131

any other ideas?

I did not read the whole thread but I did recently have a bad encounter with:
CSCte08121 SRST8.0: 7937, 79x1/5/2 with sccp version 17 would not register to SRST

which prevented 79x1 and 79x2 model phones (or any phone load support SCCPv17) from registering with SRST.

Is that like staying at a holiday inn express?

it was the latest MD i could find that is recent.

there's a 12.4(20)T or something like that but its MD is from May.

i need SRST 4.1 because CUE 3.1 is not supported on anything higher.

I'm gonna open a case with the TAC on this one tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone had any comments.

The docs all point to 7942/62 being supported on SRST 4.1 but I can't get these phones to register.

They registered fine when the router had SRST 7.1.

*sigh*
