[cisco-voip] Fwd Voicemail to Email

As Matthew said below, you need to set up a Smarthost. You may also have to make a change to your Mail server to relay the messages also.

You don't need to change the SMTP Domain from the server name either - or at least I haven't.

The Search IP Address List - is to allow/block IP Addresses - at least that's what the Help says - I haven't had the need to play with it.

I have a Doc somewhere and will forward it if I find it - had it from one of the Cisco guys a while back.

I want Unity Conn to just email the message out to my end user. (In UConn, it is under the subscriber, Edit -> Message Actions -> Voicemail. Choose "Relay the Message" should send it to an email address.)

Under SMTP, the SMTP domain is listed as UConn-VM, which I don't know if it matters or not! Should it be set to "mycompany.com<http://mycompany.com>"? Also, under Edit is a "Search IP Address List", not sure of what that does.

The documentation is just a little lacking on this part, IMHO.

Dumb question but have you setup the SMTP server values also? And what settings do you have in the Message Settings or the Unified Messaging section?

Unity Connection.
So dumb question, I tried entering my mailserver name as a smart host, and I tried using smtp.comcast.net<http://smtp.comcast.net> as a smart host. Set the voicemail to Relay. Both times, I get a receipt in my voicemail box, error code 500, that the message could not be delivered.

I guess I don't understand enough about smarthosts!

Anyone else?

Unity or Unity Connection?

In regular unity you'd have to be in UM Mode, In UCxN, setup a smart host under SMTP and then in message actions for each users either accept and relay (keep copy on server) or just relay the message.

Unity 8.

I saw someone do this, when a person gets a call, the call is converted to wav then sent to their email.

I can't seem to find where to do this in Unity.

Caveats:

the domain listed in Unity (VMAIL-001) is not the email domain that I would use.
My email server requires SMTP authentication (username and password).

I am pretty sure it can be done (we did it in 6 I think, but I can't find the right settings in 8).

Thanks anyone
