[cisco-voip] 7935 constantly rebooting "obtaining IP address... loading application"

We've had this working on voice vlan enabled ports for years. However, that being said, I did modify the port to ensure the voice vlan was the only vlan, i.e. data vlan. That did not help things.

Can you sniff the port? I don’t believe the 7935 supported voice VLAN assignment via CDP (definitely not via LLDP-MED) so it could be trying to use the data VLAN.

this is a 7935 - the original polycom/cisco hybrid conference phone.

the only java in this phone is the coffee that has invariably been spilled in it. ;)

i'm gonna take it to another building to see if it works. otherwise, i'm calling it DOA.

We'll have to consider putting our new conference phones on a contract.

Bad phone, try doing a Java reset, this corrects the problem about 50% of the time, with that loading issue.

I have had 3 phones with that issue so far out of the last 1000 phone installs.

If anyone can shed more insight on the problem I would like to know what it is too.

I'm trying to get a 7935 working, but it gets stuck at "obtaining IP address... loading application"

A 7936 works on the same port, so I'm pretty sure the network and DHCP and TFTP settings are all fine.

I can't get in the menu to reset things either.

I'm googling....

Anyone have any ideas?
