[cisco-voip] network connectivity issues

At least on the machine I am using, the NIC does not have connectivity to the switch - the icon in task bar says disconnected. It's below layer 3 - hardware layer it seems. I will see if we have available ports to move pc directly to switch.

During this period are you seeing "media disconnected" via IPconfig or just loosing layer 3? Do they maintain their IP address? I'm assuming they can not ping the default gateway.... have you tried moving some of the PCs to just a switch port and see if the problem only occurs on PC connected to phones?

My issue was not with all connected devices at the same time, but pockets of devices that were affected. From your last comment, I assume this is all devices at the same time?

I have seen this exact issue in the past with 7912s and it turned out to be a firmware issue. I have not seen it with 7940s, but could be along the same lines.

Does the network icon show up and say that it lost connection, or do the users say they can't surf the web?

Almost every day, sometimes near the same time, the computers plugged into the phone's pc ports (both 7940 and 7912 phones) lose network connectivity while the phones still stay connected and working (calls stay active). There are no logs on the 3650 phone POE switch indicating any issues. Since the switch doesn't indicate any problem, and the issue doesn't always happen at the same time (could be 3pm or 12 pm for example), it's extremely difficult to troubleshoot and narrow down the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out what is causing this issue? It has only recently started happening, in the last month or so.

Thanks,

Andy
