With debug isdn q931 the need for a T-Berd is reduced. Both sides can monitor the d-channel. I can say only once in the last 5 years when there was bad demarc wiring did I need a T-Berd to provide it was the telco.
If you still have T-1 CAS you need to keep that T-Berd around...

The CSUs are falling out of their life cycles so using the inbuilt functions is probably the right course.
What you should definetly not do is remove the DSX monitor points in your wiring. Your T-berd is of little use if you can't jack it in!
