I apologize in advance if this is an obvious answer. :-) You also have the option of using an ATA.
Like you, my environment makes extremely little use of analog phones and doesn't have tech personnel that have much familiarity with them. Running Ethernet to an ATA that's parked right next to the analog phone is a concept that I.T.-minded people tend to be able to grasp a lot easier than running voice wiring and punching-down at cross-connects. It also enables the easy physical moves that we've come to appreciate with IP phones. For these reasons, I tend to prefer deploying ATAs over installing FXS ports in the gateway.
(Note that you would have to bump your CUCM up to 7.1.5 though in order to have support for the ATA187. Cisco decided to discontinue all the ATA models that are compatible with any versions of CUCM that are actually in use in the real world.)

I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question.
Is it possible to connect an old Polycom SoundStation conference phone to an FXS port on my gateway router and have the calls go out my PRI? We're using CUCM 7.1.3. We don't use any analog phones on our system so far so I have no experience in what it might take to make this work, if it's possible. Thanks for any info that might point me in the right direction.
