[cisco-voip] Interpreting "+" on 7942/62 on v7.1.5b.SU3

Our custom corporate directory has off-net numbers formatted as follows:
+9[+1]-NXX-XXXX
Obviously, that doesn't follow any standard whatsoever but up until now it's been working fine.
When testing this with 7942/62 with FW 9.1.1SR1 on 4.1(3) it works, but on v7.1(5b)SU3 it does not work. I thought it had something to do with EnBloc dialing as suggested by Wes, but it turns out it's not. (I did not include the fact that I had a + in the digit string back then).
When I test by holding the * key down and it changes to a +, I immediately get the same error tone.
Am I correct in my diagnosis that the + key is the issue here and that we should remove any plus signs from the output?
Thanks, Lelio
