Great, no need to touch the phones.
Let me know how you get on with the ATA's I'm curious to see if the DHCP->Static->DHCP works, with any luck the only impact will be a reset of the device.
Thanks
Stephen

The problem on those ATAs is that there are no users but emergency analog devices attached on them :-(.
I have tested in my lab with a 7941.
Even with an infinite lease, when i reseted it remotely, it got a new ip from another dhcp server.
But ATAs is another case.
I will try to find one for a test.

Hi Anthony,
You can always ask your users to do it, or local IT focal points if you have them, assuming you are changing away from a infinite DHCP setting, you would only have to do this once I'd expect.
I'm afraid I haven't used the ATA's in quite a while, so I'm a bit rusty, but I believe you could change the ATA from DHCP to static (keeping the same address?), apply and then swap back to DHCP again. The details on the ATA web interface are here:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/products_configuration_example09186a00800c3a50.shtml#task4
Obviously you need to test this as you don't want to make the situation worse by having ATA's you need to manually factory reset :(
Also,
It is possible to remotely control multiple phones at once for this type of problem, we released an application called PhoneView at the beginning of the year that's 100% focused on managing phone endpoints, on the basis you never need to physically touch a phone again (as long as it's registered with UCM, SRST or CME).
I suggest you have a look at the video(s) on the website to see how it works (http://www.unifiedfx.com<http://www.unifiedfx.com/>), in addition for key press macros there is a video with a good example on this, in this case for the bulk delete of ITL file from multiple phones here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7oPuj1szNg
Note: There are some really ground breaking enhancements in PhoneView Version 2 that will be released on in a few weeks that no other remote control based product can do, it might be worth your while registering for the Webinar: (http://events.unifiedfx.com<http://events.unifiedfx.com/>)
Thanks

Hi Stephen,
the problem is that i don't want to go to every phone and press that sequence.
How is it possible to do it remotely? (with that for example? http://www.voipintegration.com/Software-Phone-Remote.aspx)
As far as the ATAs, what you thing would be enough to do via the webgui?

Interesting problem,
I wasn't aware of many people setting an infinite DHCP lease, I assume this is to prevent from the impact of a loss of DHCP server?
I suspect if you go to the phone settings and erase the phones config that will force the phone to re-aquire an IP Address?
If that worked it would give you the option of using a key press macro and sending the key sequence to the phones remotely, or asking users to perform the sequence for you.
This would only apply to the normal IP Phones, the ATA's would need to be done separately, possibly web browse into each one?
Thanks
Stephen

Hi Scott,
if all we need is shut no shut it is bearable.
What is not bearable is unplug and replug (all devices are non poe) of their powercube :-(

it's been too long ago for me to be sure.... but I think when we moved to new CM hardware and changed IP's this is what we did...... BUT I think I did a shut no shut on the switches.

Hi all,
suppose a ip phones (79XX, ATA186, ATA187, 69XX) are registered to a CUCM and the dhcp has assigned them an infinite IP.
If i disable this dhcp and set up a new one with different lease time (a day for example), will the ip phones get the new settings after i reset them from the CCM admin?
Regards
Anthony
