Just for my own curiosity because I've never taken a 79x5 apart....

The lens you're talking about is inside somewhere, correct?  Presumably in the vicinity of the hookswitch?

I have never tried to repair an optical hook switch.  We would just RMA the phone; but we need to do something different now.  Anyone know any good service options for the Cisco phones?

Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't tell me the 7942s have hookswitch problems. We have so many hookswitch issues with the 7940s we can't keep up.

I have a couple of 7962s where the hookswitch has stopped working.  I pulled one of them apart and didn't find anything wrong with it visually, but after putting it back together it still isn't working.  Has anyone else encountered this issue, and perhaps found a fix?
