[cisco-voip] Non-Cisco branded IBM HDD replacement for MCS7835-I3

The floods in Thailand last Oct caused supply chain issues for manufacturers. Seems a large number of HD components are made in Thailand. I wouldn't be surprised with the lead times.

You are having a 3-week lead time getting a HD replacement or buying a new one?
AFAIK there is no Cisco branded HD for MCS servers.

Whatever part is listed on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/product_solution_overview0900aecd80091615.html for your server is what you need. If you had a bad one replaced via TAC it would still come directly from IBM.

Hi,

Has anyone here had to replace an MCS HDD with a non-Cisco branded IBM equivalent before?

I'm faced with a 4 week lead time on an HDD-7835-I3-300 for my MCS7835-I3 server when I can get the IBM equivalent 42DO637 within 24 hours.

Are there any caveats with installing the non branded disk other than lack of TAC support etc?

This would certainly get me out of a fix.

Thanks
