[cisco-voip] Integrating Valcom paging equipment into Cisco based environments..

yeah, that was my read too…

The first type “PABX loop trunk” appears that it would work with an FXO

If I had a spare port I’d just jump on that.. but I don’t, so am hoping to avoid buying one, if some other connection in that thing would work…

Then I saw that “Page port” type of access.

Reading and trying to interpret old-telco language, it would appear that the page port requires some sort of dry contact closures, etc

which a router/ATA most certainly do not do.

So an FXO may be the option of the day…

So here’s the other question –

(I have some FXO cards in various remote routers, but don’t know exactly what they are)

How does one go about figuring out whether an FXO port (via commandline) is a VIC2-XXX or VIC-XXX ??

I can see FXO ports via ‘sh ver’ or ‘sh hardware’

but I don’t know how to determine what type of FXO they are --

Indeed, this one looks different. From my reading, looks like only an FXO will work. In the PBXA configuration, it is still referencing a trunk connection, not station. I beleive you will need an FXO port for this to work.

I had already tried one, and it doesn’t work….

I don’t know if I need to set some jumpers or something on the Valcom or what—

We have the V-9997 most places, but this site has the V1101a which could be different?

thanks, Tim

Hi Tim,

You should be good to go with an FXS. I have configured FXS and FXO for the Valcoms with no issues.

Joe

Hi all -

I have a need to connect a Valcom V-1101A single zone paging controller to a Cisco UCM based system.

http://www.valcom.com/pdf/v-1101a.pdf <http://www.valcom.com/pdf/v-1101a.pdf>

Does anyone have any experience in selecting the right hardware on the Cisco side ?

The device refers to the following features:

• Electronic key system line key access
• PABX loop trunk port access
• 1A2 line button access
• 1A2 intercom access
• Page port access

I think they may be using it as the "key system line" since that's what they had before.

I'm not sure what a "1A2" line button is -- but it sounds rather like an FXS might handle it- aka an ATA would do it, acting as an FXS port to the paging controller.

It also sounds like I could perhaps use an FXO port with the "PABX loop trunk port"

But, I'd rather not purchase an FXO card unless there's no other option off that list that would work.

I do have ATAs controlling other types of Valcom paging controllers

like this one, I think

http://www.valcom.com/pdf/v-9937.pdf

which do work with ATAs...

Does anyone have a clue as to whether the V-1101A can do the same thing??

thanks, Tim
