That article wasn't correct - towards the bottom it states H323 on the
VG224 doesn't support standards based faxing, which isn't true. There's
nothing different about a VG224 and a FXS port on a router. And there
really isn't much different from a PRI and a FXS port on a router from a
capabilities standpoint (minus SCCP support).
In theory modem passthrough, protocol based relay, and nse based relay
should work in any permutation of configuration. They all kick off at
slightly different times, so it continues to negotiate if one doesn't work.
However, it introduces complexity and it's likely for problems to occur
because of multiple being configured due to bugs and corner cases.
