[cisco-voip] Can't update PAB, fast dials from phones

Whenever you get an ES from TAC, always ask for the readme file that goes with it.

That is where I leaned about the 8831 and the DX650 phones :)

I would post a readme to the list, but I don't know if that is ok or not.

Does TAC have a resolved bug list? I got an ES from them but there was no readme or release notes with the bug fixes.

I've tried to use the bug search tool a few times but its "known-affected version" option never seems to work for me.

You'd think that, but then you look at the bug lists, where main features don't work on the official releases, like BAT, or mobility.

Touché. :)

In my defense though, the reason we're on 9.1 at the moment is because of other problems with an 8.6 ES we had before. I prefer official releases as much as possible; I'm sure they're regression tested much more than ES's.

If you're afraid of ES's you shouldn't be on 9.1 :)

Just take a look at the readme for one of the ES, they're fixing lots and lots of things.

Wes,

Yes TAC offered an ES, but I'd rather keep that as a last resort since upgrading CUCM is significant amount of work and testing Do you know what phone models have problems? We have a mix of 9971s and 7975s (SCCP).

Thank you,
Eric

TAC won't provide clear answer because manually pointing (overriding the default) isn't extensively tested. It *should* work. When last I checked there was still some inconsistency in how the various phone models used internal vs. external provisioned URL's. That is to say your mileage may vary and careful attention is required.

TAC should have offered you an engineering special to resolve that bug. Did they? Is there a reason a CUCM ES upgrade is not a viable solution for you?

Regards,
Wes

We upgraded to the latest CUCM 9.1 (9.1.1.20000-5) and now people cannot edit their personal address book and fast dials from their phone, which is especially problematic since fast dial functionality was taken out of the user pages. This is a known bug, CSCue60831, that the PAB cannot be updated from CUCM subscribers. Can I change the Personal Directory phone service to use the URL on the publisher, i.e. "http://<Pub IP>:8080/ccmpd/pdCheckLogin.do?name=#DEVICENAME#<http://%3cPub%20IP%3e:8080/ccmpd/pdCheckLogin.do?name=#DEVICENAME#>"? Will I run into any problems? I didn't get a clear answer from TAC.

Thanks,
Eric
