[cisco-voip] Cisco Webex Meeting Server 1.5

This is slightly frustrating.

1.5 MR2 apparently deferred. No deferral notice on CCO either.
No news as to whether they will release MR2, or just go straight to v2.0 at end of this month / beginning of next.

Cheers,

Tim

The bug lists MR2 and 2.0 as "fixed" versions, but it's not a fix so much as a user notification. MR2 includes a new alert for Firefox and Chrome users that will give them instructions on how to enable the plugin during the phase-out period. From the release notes for CWMS:
Chrome and Firefox Browser Alert

Because of Google and Mozilla policy changes, starting with Chrome 32* and Firefox 27*, users may need to manually enable the WebEx plug-in when using these browsers to join a WebEx meeting or play back a WebEx meeting recording. More information and instructions can be found in our Joining a WebEx Meeting on Chrome and Firefox FAQ<https://support.webex.com/webex/meetings/en_US/chrome-firefox-join-faq.htm>.

*The exact versions of Chrome and Firefox that are impacted by this policy have not been finalized as of the publishing of this document.

I haven't managed to check that sev 1 bug yet, as details are hidden. Is it just informational regarding the API?

Tac told me we had to upgrade to MR2 as it did fix something related to this issue (although I realise it doesn't fix the actual issue of removal of the API from fox and chrome)

I'll try get the actual bug details today

The NPAPI issue is not resolved by 1.5 MR2 or by 2.0. It affects all WebEx products whether they are on-premise or cloud based. There is no solution for this available or announced. Starting in January for Chrome and February for Firefox they will be blocking NPAPI plugins (which is what WebEx uses) by default, but allowing users to selectively enable them. Chrome has announced that they will completely remove support for NPAPI by the end of 2014. Firefox has not yet provided a timeframe for complete removal. The WebEx support pages (linked below) have details on how users can continue to use the NPAPI plugin after the initial changes, however this will only work for as long as browsers continue to support NPAPI in this degraded state... once it goes away completely then a new solution will be required. Cisco have stated they are working on a next-generation solution, but have not announced any plans or timeframe yet.

So the NPAPI phase out begins in Jan 2014, MR1 and 1.5 base have the issue and MR2 is not available for download today.

In addition to that 2.0 would be released late Dec/ early Jan

This is cutting it too close to the line

Hi guys,

That is MR1 that is deferred.
I'm assuming it was deferred due to the Sev 1 bug relating to Chrome and Firefox - CSCul49294

MR2 was posted the other day, I'm in the middle of applying it now.
It fixes user de-activation issue and phantom meetings in dashboard which is also nice.
I just checked now though, and it seemed MR2 had disappeared. Perhaps a web site / publishing problem I think.

2.0 should be out at end of the year, or January hopefully, this has some handy bug fixes, and some handy improvements.

Cheers,

Tim.

I don't have it handy but the latest VoE mentioned this and as you might suspect some crazy bug. I think the target was next week. The VoE has the specifics.

I noticed that 1.5 is now deferred. Any word when new 1.5 upgrade media is going to be posted to CCO?
