[cisco-voip] UCCX 10.5.1SU1 adding a Secondary node for HA

My understanding was that the TrueUpdate would be able to populate this if only one of the IPs changed. Given that the question was related to adding an HA, I would assume this would be populated. Has anyone tested if this happens. Can't remember if the TrueUpdate requires admin rights on the CAD/CSD workstation.

Hi Matthew,

I can't say for sure it is ONLY adding that entry and not doing anything else, but that key is the first to be read when CAD starts up, first to check if auto update is enabled in the configuration and if so, to kick off TrueUpdate. Once TrueUpdate is complete, CAD again reads that key and connects to the LDAP to pull down the rest of the configuration. Also, PostInstall reads those keys from the registry when it starts up, not any other place to my knowledge.

So....I think you'd be okay just pushing the IP into LDAP Host 2. I would script one in the lab and make sure CAD still starts up and is able to fail over without an issue.

Is that just setting the LDAP Host 2 entry in HKLM\Software\Calabrio\CAD\Site Setup? (Add wow6432node between software and Calabrio for x64)
If so that could definitely be scripted by an admin.

Hi Jason,

The Client Config Tool will update the MSIs for new CAD installations and those that are automatically pulled down by the client when the server is upgraded (in the future).

For existing CAD users, there is no need to reinstall CAD, just run the PostInstall.exe utility on the CAD PC and populate the first screen with the secondary IP address. Unfortunately you will have to do this on each PC and it requires admin rights because it writes this IP to the registry as the secondary LDAP host so when the servers fail over or the first LDAP host isn't available, the client knows where to go.

HTH.

If you add a Secondary HA Node, do you have to un-install CAD and re-install CAD after running the Client Configuration Tool?

In other words is the HA Secondary info pushed to existing CAD users? Or does everyone have to un-install and re-install CAD making the customer a little irritated?
