Hey all,

Has anyone bought a BE6000/BE7000/UC on UCS bundle and bought the
additional R-VMW-UC-FND5-K9 SKU for UC Virtualization Foundation instead of
the normal UC Virtualization Hypervisor?

The UC Virtualization Hypervisor is just VMWare ESXi Free version.

UC Virtualization Foundation adds some additional dunctionality but not at
the full level of a Standard VMware license since you can't do vMotion.

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements#Purchasing_.2F_Sourcing_Options_for_Required_Virtualization_Software
shows it allows you to add the host to a vCenter with this SKU and also
unlocks some of the VMware APIs needed for Prime Collaboration Deployment.

What I'm mostly interested in is the SNMP configuration. Right now all of
our clients have to buy the expensive VMware Standard license just so we
can monitor them from a Managed Services perspective. This SKU is much
cheaper but I can't find anything confirming that it also unlocks the SNMP
access.

PDI helpdesk was able to find this link (
http://www.cisco.com/web/software/283088407/108296/cucm_10.0_vmv7_v1.7.ova.README.txt)
which shows that you can use the PowerCLI if you have the UC Virtualization
Foundation for your hypervisor. The PowerCLI access is needed for
configuring the SNMP community string.

I still haven't found anything that listed SNMP access as a definite
feature for this SKU though. Anyone buy this SKU that can confirm?

Thanks,
Brian Meade
