If the loop is really long take a look at Viking long loop adapters...https://www.vikingelectronics.com/product-details.php?pid=289
Works well for me , good loop current and ringing voltages.

I need this for the mining industry. They currently have a old Nortel and claim it does about 24km. I now need to try and match that on Cisco.

It's different per device. FXS port is different than ATA186 which is different than VG224. Do you already have an FXS port or ATA you're planning to use?
