[cisco-voip] Phone Deprecation going forward

That sounds interesting. As far as I know, Apple wasn’t planning on disabling the old libraries with this iOS update. But Cisco has said it could happen at any time because Apple doesn’t comment on that sort of stuff. It’s quite frustrating. We decided to apply the APNS updates just in case after we upgraded to 11.5su4.

Of course, now we’re told we really should upgrade to su5.

There’s also a COP file for su4 that was missed during the upgrade unfortunately. We’re looking at applying that at least.

One thing I’ll say about APNS. Not sure if it’s good or bad. But Jabber v12 on my iPhone is automatically launched if not running in the background when a call comes in.

Good, ‘cause it’s exactly what you want. Until you don’t want it any longer. Bad because you can’t turn it off as far as I can tell.

Hi Lelio,
we don't have APNS enabled yet but users feedback that their iphone notification stopped working recently after upgrading to latest iOS software.

Does that mean that even with APNS, only IM notification will come in, call notification will not?

Looks like Cisco has made an interesting announcement regarding phone deprecation going forward.

In my opinion, this is on the level of the announcement that basically said, “Jabber inbound calls on iPhone will stop working. If you need inbound calls please use Spark.”

Together we banded together and voiced our opinion and I believe this helped to changed their plan and continued to support inbound calling on Jabber on iPhone.
