[cisco-voip] Estimated time to apply SU6 on v11.5(1) SU4

Thanks Eric!

Do the servers restart automatically after the SU is applied? Or do I have an opportunity to wait until after a busy time passes?

I’m likely able to grab a 12 hour window. But that may not be enough to install the updates _and_ restart _and_ backout with a switch version. Restarts take abut 10-15 minutes until all services are back up and running.

I may have to move it from a Friday evening window to a Saturday evening window. Queues close earlier on Saturday and open later on Sunday. Possibly giving me 14-18 hours.

Typically a publisher is roughly 2-3 hours but could be longer. I’ve seen some take long time.

Subs 1-2 hours typically. I’ve seen subs done installing in 45 minutes, others 2 hours+.

These times don’t count downloading the patch if doing it by sftp or time getting it ready on datastore/etc.

For a SU in same release, switch version roughly 30-45 minutes give or take with all services started and settled down per server.

YMMV...

Oh snap. That’s quite a bit.

Would subs take less time you think?

I need to prepare some maintenance requests sooner than I will have the opportunity to test out applying SU6 on a test server.

Does anyone have any estimates on how long it takes to apply?

Last time I did one was a while ago and if I recall correctly, it was almost as long, if not as long, as a regular install. 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours.

Is that still legit?

I’d also need to know how long a switch versions might take? I’m assuming those would have to happen sequentially?

Any info would be great.

Lelio
