NETMAN folks:

I have offered to host an R&E network track and NANOG 59 which will be
held in Arizona, October 7-9, 2013. The idea here is to discuss topics
that are relevant for R&E network operators--basically, the kind of
operational stuff we'd discuss at Joint Techs. I am especially
encouraging people in the area (SoCal and Arizona) to attend and
participate. Some of the topics I'd like to cover (and I need folks who
are willing to participate in panels on these topics):

- Science DMZ deployment strategies and lessons learned
- IPv6 deployment status and recent developments
and:
- What's wrong with computer security in Higher Ed (this is mainly my
soapbox, but other viewpoints welcome)

If there are folks who want to participate in those topics, please let
me know. If there are additional topics you would like to cover (we
have 90 minutes for the track), feel free to propose them.

Also, I encourage R&E folks in the area and elsewhere to show up and
enjoy the free booze^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hgood hallway conversations and
content.

It was really great to see the new-to-NANOG R&E folks who showed up at
NANOG 58 in New Orleans, and everyone seemed very happy with the content
and side-conversations. Let's keep it going for NANOG 59 in Arizona.

thanks!
michael
