That's interesting, a bit worrying, but interesting none the less. Do you have any idea about the amount of memory in the box and max routing table entries for the purpose of running BGP on the box.

Hi. I've worked with both extreme and Cisco, and would like to offer an opinion. I have never been happy with the extreme's ability to do redundancy (I.e. hsrp/vrrp) and/or have redundant connections to multiple switches. They are very unstable in this configuration and Extreme support is quite clueless, even if you have a Beryllium-super-platinum service contract.

Anybody know a good supplier of refurb extreme boxes. After reading the spec I would be happy to wave goodbye to some Cisco 2948G-L3's in favour of the Summit 48i/si. Also, does anybody haave an idea how much the full L3 upgrade costs.

  Thanks in advance

  Vusi
