I do recommend you upgrade to the latest 6.2.2 if you really need to 
remain at 6.2.2. EW6.2.2b156 is the latest afaik.

No, that should work fine. You do know that the 1560 is the ethernet MTU, 
and not like on ciscos where it's the IP MTU?

What about if you set it to a higher number?
