My understanding - and this may well be wrong :-) - is that the fundamental
difference between the bigiron and netiron product is a licensing issue rather
than a technical one (with the exception of memory...). The hardware is
largely identical.
The difference between the BI and NI chassis - apart from labelling - is
a single chip on the backplane, which identifies the unit and controls which
modules/code can be used on that chassis.
Disclaimer: This may be nonsense. I did ask Foundry about this some
time ago, and ended up thoroughly confused :-)
