Chuck:
Are you certain it won't do 7.6.05 boot code in one shot? The 8.0 release
notes say it should be possible. The operational code, however, is
definitely a 2-step process:
"To summarize, if you are upgrading from a pre-07.6.01 release to release
08.0.00:
1.Upgrade the boot code on the management module to version 07.6.05.
2.Upgrade the flash code on the management module to version 07.6.01, then
reload the software.
3.Upgrade the flash code on the management module to version 08.0.00, then
reload the software."
Foundry recommended the 7.8 code tree for the IronCore systems, and 8.x for
the JetCore systems, although 8.x is running on one of my lab IronCore
systems and seems to work okay.
If you're having problems with 7.6.05, the oldest boot code I have for my
BigIron 4000 chassis is 7.6.02. I can send it off-list if you'd like to try
it.

Subject: [f-nsp] Upgrading B8GMR3 from very old code
Hey all--
I'm trying to upgrade a B8GMR3 with 7.1.18 code and 7.01.08 boot code. The
card definitely won't jump to M2B07605.bin boot code in one shot, but that's
the only boot code on the Knowledge Base. Does anyone have any experience
making the leap from this ancient code to a more reasonable, up-to-date one?
Thanks in advance.
