Someone say, stuck slug?

Hello:

Maybe someone can comment on this, and I guess my concern is less
important than a stuck and otherwise useless slug.

I would be concerned about overheating the slug/core, possibly causing
permeability changes after exceeding the Curie temperature of the
ferrite or powdered iron, or fracturing.

Walter may have had good luck so far, and it may be based on how careful
he is. I wonder if too hot an iron and other bad luck factors could
cause the effects I worried about above.

I guess it's a tough call which is worse, a stuck slug you can't move,
or a cracked one or one that just altered the nominal value and range of
inductance. Or maybe I'm theorizing a scenario that doesn't happen...
