RF:
        Don't know that this helps ur situation at all, but KH6IJS suggested
subbing an ECG 488 for the 2N4427 in the HW-8 (as reprinted in WB8VGE's
HW-
handbook, who added an editoral aside to try subbing the final from an
old
CB radio).
        I'm still seeking a HW-7 manual copy, sans construction details, if
anyone has one. Postage, copy expense and soda water monies cheerfully
re-imbursed.
