SS-9000 Owners - Stand Up!

OK, I've done it!

I just closed a deal on a SS-9000 (for the uninitiated amongst us, that
was Heath's Crown Jewel HF transceiver produced in the early 80s. 160
thru 10, dual on-board VFOs, RS-232 interface, speech compressor,
passband tuning. Listed in catalog for $2000 w/power supply. Was "true"
Heath engineering and assembly; never offered as a kit).

I'm sure, by today's standards, this rig has deficiencies, but as a true
Heathan, I'll overlook those. (It can't be any less of a radio than my
current beloved SB-102)

What I'd like to know is WHO ELSE HAS ONE OF THESE so that I can compare
notes and your experiences about this radio.

Depending on my wife's reaction to this purchase (she only knew that I
wanted it, NOT that I got it!), I may be selling my complete SB station
(102/600/610/620/630/640/650) as ONE package (so please don't beg me to
part with just one particular piece). I'll keep the list posted on this
issue.

I am aware of (and have) the review of this radio in the November 1982
issue of "ham radio magazine". I understand there are other reviews out
there. Does anyone have any knowledge of them? (supposedly one in a
1984 issue of CQ).

Also interested to know what the "finals" are in this rig.

73 es tnx,
