I used the circuit out of the August 78 issue of 73 Magazine for my RIT on
my HW-101. I first tested it for about 6 months with the pot and the
switch on a separate chassis so I wouldn't have to drill holes in the front
panel. When I saw how great it worked and the drift did not change a bit
with it installed or not, I went ahead and put a rotary on-off switch on
the left side of the meter and a good pot on the right side. Using Heath
knobs it looks just like the factory designed it that way. I have used
this mod for over 10 years with great success. If any one needs the
article EMail me and I will send them a copy of the article. By the way I
used a 1N4002 for a varactor and a 1N967B for the zener. It gives about a
2.5 KHz range The nice part about this mod is you do not have to open the
HW-101 VFO.
