HW-7 Restoration

Hi Folks,

I'd like to solicit advice on restoring the cosmetics on an HW-7 and its
matching PS.

* What advice do you have for cleaning the faceplate without rubbing off
lettering?  The alligator-like finish of the faceplates of the HW-7 and the
PS seem difficult to clean.  Were they always sort of a "dull green" (I also
have an HW-8 with the much brighter faceplate finish)?  I also want to be
careful not to rub off any of the lettering on the faceplates.

* Does the case of the HW-7 use the usual Heath case color (ala the HW-8) or
is it a different shade (it seems a tinge more blue-ish).
What paint color from R&R is the right shade?  The Heathkit #151A? The #130?

* What is the recommended prep for re-painting the cases?

Finally, is there a source for replacement faceplates, knobs, etc. for
HW-7's and HW-8's, or do I just have to lurk around waiting for offers for
these parts or parts rigs?
