SB-102 help, and apology

Hello all...
First off, apologies to folks with whom I'd corresponded over past couple
of months about getting parts, manuals, etc. I've been ill and that,
coupled with yet another OS crash in my PC, have rendered me alternately
goofy and offline.
Now to my most current problem: Whilst "fixing" an intermittent S meter on
my trusty '102, I inadvertantly (OK, stupidly) shorted the lowermost meter
switch terminal to *something* with my soldering iron while, you guessed
it, the rig was on. After a short lived yet impressive flash of light from
the area of D202, the rig was locked in transmit. Pulling V12, the relay
amp, shut off the PTT circuit, and I found and replaced the shorted 15V
zener, D202. That fixed most of whatever I killed.
However, I now have no ALC indication when I transmit. I get power out,
and was reported to have a good signal on statewide nets on 40m and 80m
last night (this is a big state :) Despite the era of my entry into
hamming in the 60s, I've been out of hollow state gear long enough that the
theory of the ALC circuitry evades me now. I can't figure out what voltage
and polarity (if indeed it's DC) I should have, and indeed if it's the same
value and character that should show up at the ALC jack on the back panel.
My manual is missing (never got printed) facing pages 128 and 129 in the
Troubleshooting Section, covering items 28-39.
*Sigh* Anyone out there who can assist a second childhood neophyte?
Tnx in advance es 73,
